Sunday Shout Out
My heart smiled a little
I remember when people I know who lost their houses in the CZU fire were starting GoFundMe pages. I went to see what GoFundMe was all about, and the directions said to reach out to friends and family. I thought that I wouldn’t do very well on the site because I had no friends, and my family is averse to things like helping.
The people who contributed last week to help me out with my car situation have proved me wrong. I do have friends, and I do have a new family, and it’s all of you.
Once again my deepest and most heartfelt thanks.

I'm happy you are getting more than just a vehicle out of it, Michael. You must post a photo of the car if and when you get it!
In Hawaiian culture there exists OHANA. This is our family of choice which may include bio-family as well as those who are HANAI (adopted). Nothing formal is required to hanai someone into ones ohana. There is nothing casual about an ohana or somehow less-than about hanai - for this, along with ALOHA is the fundamental stable structure of Hawaiian society.
As the world splinters and collapses I am finding that my ohana includes those I have not and may not meet IRL yet still feel like home to me.
