The Vampyre Chronicles
Or step into my parlor said the spider to the fly
In vampire legend there were many things that supposedly either scared them off or physically harmed them. The most important of all the myths is that a vampire cannot enter your dwelling unless you invite them in.
The modern world is a vampire that sneers at all the stories we have told ourselves about vampires. Water, holy or otherwise will not harm it, it takes the water and leaves us dying of thirst, it cooks with garlic, you can’t put a stake in its heart because it has no heart. The only thing that is true about the myths is that this vampire construct can’t see itself in the world around it, and not seeing itself in it’s surroundings it is free to destroy with impunity.
It didn’t need to worry about not getting invited in because it discovered early on that it would be welcome with open arms and enthusiastic embraces if it dressed itself up in the guise of something helpful or something good.
It knew full well all our weaknesses and took advantage of them.
It knew that modern people didn’t want to work so hard so it made up “solutions” to help lighten the load. It made up washing machines, dryers, cars, telephones, computers, and now AI.
All of these fabrications were designed with one thought in mind, to lure in, then control, and eventually suck the life from the populace. They did this to make money and to secure power for the pushers of the modern lie. (see what I did there, just leave the ‘f’ out of life and it becomes what it truly is, a lie.)
The appalling naivete of the masses made it’s job so much easier, there were no doubt groups of pushers who got together and laughed at how easy it is to fool these people.
They told lies that, like any good legend, danced with the truth without stepping on its toes.
Booker T. Washington said, “A lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good, just because it’s accepted by a majority.”
Booker T. Washington never had to deal with today’s society, a society so convinced of it’s superiority and the “truth’ of its assertions that they would argue to the death defending a fabrication. Reality never entered the equation.
Matt Taibbi said, “The first thing you need to know about Goldman Sachs is that it’s everywhere. The world’s most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money.”
That can now be extended out to embrace the entirety of modern life.
We willingly turn our heads and offer our necks to anyone who promises us something that looks easier. They brought this exploitation to one of its highest levels by convincing an entire world that the ongoing threat of Covid was “mild,” and they’re pushing the envelope, I think, even further by stuffing the lies about AI down our throats.
…and, so far, were just letting them do it.

I look forward to seeing MAGAs and MAHAs denying that Ebola is real while blood gushes out of their eyeballs.
In the immortal words of Jello Biafra, "Give me convenience or give me death." In our case, we get both.
