You Can't Make This Shit Up
No one is that good
No matter how hard you try, and we’ve talked about this before, you can not make things up that outshine the things that the bad guys are doing. The bad guys are everyone but us, in case you’re wondering.
Most of the satirical pieces I’ve seen, both in writing and on videos, look positively antiquated, like funny movies from the 1930s.
It’s a zero-sum game.
Videos and articles are yesterday’s news before they’re even posted.
Most of the fiction that I keep in my private vault (which I may give you access to at some point) was predictive in nature. It is now irrelevant because it all came true last week.
Insanity, it would seem, came much faster than expected. The rate of adaptation needed to keep up was well beyond our capacity.
I keep writing about how I don’t have the words, (which makes me kind of a liar because I’m writing words) they are getting harder to come by because descriptors and their ilk just can’t do justice to the situation.
Maybe we need a whole new language to describe, for whatever feral humans live through this mess, what happened and why we didn’t do anything to stop it.
Wildfire just wrote, “Sometimes, you run across a piece of news that perfectly sums up the state of the world. This one comes from Matthew Gault over at 404 Media, reporting on the British government’s latest efforts to combat the country’s worst drought in nearly 50 years. So, are they finally suing Big Oil?No, not quite.
Are they going to regulate tech companies that destroy the environment with their reckless pursuit of artificial intelligence? Are they going to overhaul their economic system to prioritize equilibrium?
Also, no.
Instead, they’ve issued requests for their citizens to delete old photos and emails from their computers to “reduce pressure” on the grid.
What a bold move…”
…and here I was getting ready to write a satirical piece on the ludicrous things governments ask people to do in the guise of “saving the planet.” I guess the UK leaders upstaged me on that.
The Utah government just approved, yet another, data center in what is called the Wasatch Front Projects Area near Salt Lake City, according to an article in the Utah News Dispatch, “Data centers can consume up to 5 million gallons of potable water a day, 25 times the 200,000 gallon commercial limit set by Salt Lake City.”
The local government is recommending that people take shorter showers and limit watering their yards to a few times per week.
That is one “effective” strategy for dealing with drought level conditions.
What is even more surprising to me is that people are actually taking these recommendations seriously.
It’s like the recycling people spending a day picking up plastic, and displaying, proudly, their 2 to 5 hundred pounds of waste from the beach, while over 2,000 truckloads of plastic waste is dumped into oceans, rivers, and lakes each day. India alone generates 26,000 tons of plastic waste every day.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no objection to picking up garbage, I think it’s a noble thing to do, but please don’t try to pretend that you’re saving the planet, you’re not even close to keeping up with the amount of waste that is generated.
…and most importantly, please stop lying to children about how you’re saving their future, that’s just wrong.
I’m joining the beggars banquet and including this link so you can send me money if you want. You will earn a place on my wall of smiley faces with a small contribution.

I keep wondering, what do parents tell their children about all this? Seems to me that you'd either have to lie, or cause them endless depression and anxiety. Shit, we thought things were hopeless back in the 80s when I was young! I am selfishly glad that I chose not to reproduce.
But, but, what about the CHILDREN?
They might JUDGE us if we don't LOOK like we're doing something as we squander their future.
