The rate of change is now out of control.
As you read this, there may very well be an executive order being signed that’s going to affect your life negatively.
What was termed a polycrisis a few months ago has gone exponential.
There’s no way to keep up.
With each passing minute, this country and everything in it is being threatened and there is nothing we can do.
I don’t see any way out of this.
There is a group calling for protests in fifty states on February 5th, to defend liberty, equality, and justice. So far there are protests planned in every state.
Being the cynic that I am, I don’t think this is going to have any effect on the direction this administration is going.
As is usual with events of this nature there seems to be no plans beyond the protest.
I didn’t see anything about what would be done after.
During the occupy movement one of the big criticisms was that there was nothing in place to replace the institution that would be ousted.
If you want a better future, or what is left of the future, it makes sense to have an idea of what you plan to do and what that future would look like.
If you get your wish and topple the structure what will you do?
Will you be able to supply food?
Will you be able to supply health care?
Will you be able to supply housing?
Will you be able to deal with the panic that will set in when the country is rendered rudderless and without leadership?
Will you have the strength and courage to take on all the responsibilities of running this country the way you think it should be run?
There are lots of moving parts.
Every one of which will have to be addressed.
…or
Is this just another way to assuage your guilt and pretend to be against exploitation and injustice.
What will you do on February 6th?
Will you join with all the people who participated and actually resist the dictates of the powerful?
Will you stand up for what is right or will you back down when you realize that protest and a coffee is going to accomplish nothing?
I have no objection to this event taking place or to participating in it as an act of defiance but…
“The question is not how far to go. The question is, do you possess the constitution, and the depth of faith, to go as far is as needed?”

Geez, Michael, at 79, Long COVID and Prostate cancer survivor, and living in Trampsilvania in small town SE Ohio, my demonstration days are over, but I believe that much of our angst may be misdirected anyway. New James Hansen paper just published showing 0.4 degC global surface temp increase in the past 2 yrs., so 0.2 degC EVERY YEAR NOW, and we may reach an intolerable 3 degC increase by 2032 at this rate. All of the Circus Clown in Chief's shenanigans aside, as distracting as they are, the billionaire class and the DOD, among others in the know, are busy making survival plans ("prepping") while the rest of us are distracted. Tramp and the Muskrat are trashing the federal government to rake-in every last nickel from us before we wake the hell up and realize we've already fallen off the climate collapse cliff. Have a blessed day! Gregg
Protests will accomplish nothing as they only work in representational governments. That was finally given completely away in November. Empty threats will be laughed at and ignored. Trump is a coward who will run away but Musk is a rogue with nothing to lose.
The elimination of the federal workforce, thousands are accepting the buyout which may never come but they are gone, are the force we need. Honest judges can issue orders but who will enforce them?
Think about it.
